ODE TO THE OCEAN
Celebrating 130 years since it created the world's first cultured pearl, Mikimoto's latest high jewellery collection, Praise to the Sea, pays homage to the origin of its iconic pearls - the ocean. Comprising a variety of astounding necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings and brooches, the creations highlight the Japanese jeweller's unrivalled craftsmanship and nacre treasures. On one of the collection's largest necklaces, worn by the model above, ocean currents are depicted by a rhythmic web of elegant Akoya cultured pearls, whose brilliance and iridescence are reminiscent of bubbles. Adding more movement to the statement piece is a school of colourful fish, set with precious gems. Another scene-stealer is a single earring with a magnificent teardrop-shaped tanzanite that evokes the organic form of colourful coral or sea anemone.
