While he often made fun of his reputation as a Romeo, Shane Warne was undoubtedly a hit with the ladies – and well-loved offand on the pitch.

“He was so sweet... I mean, I’m a gay lady but I can see the charm. It wasn’t a bunged-on charm,” Magda Szubanski, 60, says of shooting scenes with Shane when he did a cameo on Aussie comedy Kath & Kim in 2007.

“It was just a thoughtfulness and sweetness and a kind of charisma that you can’t manufacture. It is just who you are as a person – that radiated out of him.”

Dannii Minogue, 50, also described the late star in glowing terms.
