Crime, passion and family loyalties collide in Sky’s sun-soaked thriller A Town Called Malice, set on Spain’s Costa del Sol in the 1980s.
A London crime family hotfoot it to Spain in a 1980s-set thriller starring Jack Rowan

Powered by a soundtrack of unforgettable hits from the decade, the eight-part drama centres on Gene Lord (Jack Rowan), the youngest son of a notorious south London crime family, headed by Albert Lord (Jason Flemyng).

Albert and his three sons by wife Mint Ma (Martha Plimpton) were once big players and are keen to regain their position as top dogs. Yet, although Gene is smarter than his brothers Leonard (Lex Shrapnel) and Kelly (Daniel Sharman), he has never quite fitted into the organisation.

But Gene’s life changes forever when he meets the fearless Cindy Carter (Tahirah Sharif), and after narrowly surviving a gangland battle and getting into trouble with the law, the couple are forced to flee abroad.

‘Cindy works behind a bar and it’s lust at first sight between them,’ says Rowan, 26. ‘But their love takes them places, for sure, and as the story goes on, they become this Bonnie and Clyde-type couple who really have each other’s backs. They take us into a really sexy world driven by fashion, driven by music and driven by tribe.’
