Like all good detective pairings, Edwin Payne and Charles Rowland are very different: Edwin is cautious, Charles is impulsive; Edwin’s the brains, and Charles is the brawn. The two have one thing in common, though – they’re both dead.
Based on the DC Comics characters created by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner, and sharing a universe with fellow Netflix series The Sandman, Dead Boy Detectives follows Edwin (George Rexstrew) and Charles (Jayden Revri) as they investigate cases on behalf of their fellow spirits.
After Edwin met an untimely end in 1916 and Charles died in the 1980s, the two formed the Dead Boy Detectives agency, using their skills and paranormal powers to solve mysteries that are plaguing other spirits.
‘They’re both stuck in their own eras a little bit,’ says Revri. ‘But as ghosts, Charles and Edwin find this common ground of wanting to solve mysteries.’
