Updates on our long-term fleet
Remember when a car meant freedom?
''If the car was invented today and we said this consumer product will improve mobility and productivity, but … it will kill 33,000 people a year in America, do you think the government would approve it for sale?”
Recycling Combustion: Might we soon buy gasoline made from CO2?
I admit that writing about this month’s subject makes me feel a bit like Charlie Brown running toward Lucy and her football. This particular football, as a general concept, is just so alluring: Take a problem (excessive atmospheric CO 2) and turn it directly into a solution that lets us keep driving the vehicles we love—via carbon-neutral gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel. This latest scheme solves many of the problems that have yanked the ball on my previous runs, giving me the courage to barrel toward it one more time.

Intake 2020 Audi S4 FIRST DRIVE
Cars like the Audi S4 have a complicated set of responsibilities. They have to be fast, high-tech, comfortable, well-built, efficient, safe, and satisfying to drive—not to mention good-looking. 2020 Hyundai Ioniq RANGE TEST
According to the EPA, the facelifted 2020 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid, featured here in Limited trim, should return 55/54/55 mpg city/ highway/combined. Factor in its 11.9- gallon fuel tank, and under ideal conditions, one should be able to make the 526-mile round trip from L.A. to Vegas and back with plenty of range to spare. So that’s exactly what I was going to try to do.
