Natural DELIGHTS

TREES COMPANY

You'll want to grow a whole forest of these easy and eye-catching trees. The rows of beads may be the focal points, but yarn-wrapped crafts sticks are the secret ingredient. Choose bright colors if you wish, or go with earthy greens, neutrals, or black as we did.

DESIGNER: LINDSAY GREEN

MATERIALS

☐ Wooden crafts sticks

☐ Hot-glue gun and glue sticks

☐ Yarn: desired color

☐ Framed gesso art panels: 9x12 inches (small tree), 16x20 inches (large tree)

☐ Wood glue

☐ 20-millimeter round wooden beads (45 beads for small tree, 76 beads for large tree): white or natural

☐ 4-inch-long stick

MAKE THE TREE POINTS

Hot-glue two crafts sticks together at a 90-degree angle to make a tree point. Make three more tree points for a small tree or four more tree points for a large tree.

Dab hot glue on one end of a tree point and I press yarn end into glue. Wrap yarn tightly around the crafts sticks until the entire point is covered; trim and glue the yarn end to the back. Repeat to cover all tree points.

ASSEMBLE THE TREE

Measure to find the center of the art panel; mark the center. Referring to the photo, below left, center the tree points, leaving enough space between each pair for a row of beads. When satisfied with the arrangement, hot-glue the tree points to the panel.

Using wood glue, adhere a wooden bead directly under the center of a tree point, positioning the bead so the holes are on the sides and not visible. Glue seven beads on each side of the tree point for a small tree and nine beads on each side of the tree point for a large tree. Continue to add a row of beads between each set of tree points.

Use wood glue to attach the stick for a trunk; let dry.
