State water dept removes ex-IAS officer as OSD
The Devendra Fadnavis-led water resources department on Friday terminated the contract of veteran bureaucrat V K Gautam as officer on special duty (OSD) with immediate effect. Gautam retired from the water department on April 30, 2021, and was appointed OSD a week after, owing to his proximity to senior NCP leader and then water resources minister Jayant Patil.
Two get 3-yr RI for bid to bribe customs officer
A CBI court has convicted and sentenced to 3 years jail two persons under the Prevention of Corruption Act for abetment of bribery. They had offered a bribe to a customs officer to get their goods released and the customs had filed a complaint. The CBI had charged the duo, M S Jagarwal and H M Ajmera, in 2018. After the sentencing, they were taken into custody and they sought bail, which both got for Rs 5,000 each.
