Simon upgrades his Herald wipers with the addition of a new intermittent delay
Pick A Number From 2 To 10...

When my Herald 1200 was built, the study of ergonomics was obviously not as far advanced as it is today. So, for example, turning the single-speed windscreen wiper switch on and off requires the driver to reach across to the passenger’s side of the dash with their left hand, then if they want a squirt of screen wash too, that button is located on the driver’s right.

You get used to it of course, but it is not ideal. You also get used to the fact that you only have a single speed on the wipers. To be honest I very rarely feel the need to use windscreen wipers on high speed, even if I have the option. However, an intermittent function can be a real bonus. The Acclaim has this facility of course, but being a relatively early adopter of such technology there is only a single predetermined delay option, not like later cars that spoil us with the facility to choose how long a delay we want between swipes.
