A New Era Of Dreams

August 2016

The new Honda Civic has landed and it looks set to radicalise its lineage by utilising turbo charged technology.

- Aaron Hia

A New Era Of Dreams

When it was first introduced as a subcompact vehicle to the world, the Civic set new heights for engine technology with the introduction of CVCC, personally developed by Soichiro Honda himself as an answer to growing emission concerns that many automotive manufacturers could not solve, so much so that certain emission standards were met, even without the use of a catalytic converter. With the Civic as the chosen platform with this new technology, sales skyrocketed and the Civic quickly became a household name amongst global consumers.

CVCC then gave way to VTEC, the variable valve train technology developed by Honda that has left an indelible mark in automotive history. Utilised in almost all of its platforms, VTEC technology has been developed through the years and has been the mainstay for its engines ever since. This will take a twist however, amidst the rapidly growing concerns over the issue of carbon emissions that threatens the very existence of our planet’s environment; Honda has taken the more travelled route of turbo charged engine technology, and what better way to make an impressive statement by combining it with the legendary Civic?
