Give Time A Break
With his words of wisdom and introspection, Pritzker prize laureate B.V. Doshi discusses the role of architecture in giving a new dimension not just to a space, but also to time. This story takes us through his intent and his idea of how more than the built, it is the unbuilt spaces in an architectural expanse that link the visual with the emotional, psychological and spiritual being of the dweller or visitor. This thought-provoking read is a must for all designers and architects to imbibe a sense of ambiguity in the definition of design.

Defining Design Cutting Through Method And Madness
Dr. Prof. S. Badrinarayanan explores the trends in architecture, interiors, and design where the intent follows a comprehensive process, and where it is just a mere imitation. In a world of textured wallpapers and false ceilings, he advocates the need to find the ‘middle-path’ to design.

Translating The Rustic Story
Bhyrav B.R. and Aatira L. Zacharias design Quissa Kawani in Church Street, Bengaluru. The restaurant revives old village memories and the feeling of pre-independence Delhi. The basic idea for the space was derived from client interpretation to create a very simple space. This place translates its own story with a small kitchen and a takeaway counter. Special seating area evokes restaurant bliss; and the aroma of tandoori parathas and biryani will definitely cast a magic spell.

Learning Tree
“While a designer’s work is as creative as an artist’s, the challenge for our profession is ever greater. We have to visualize something new every time, aligned with the thoughts and likes of the end user – the client. When the true vision of both sides amalgamates, a final outcome shapes into reality, be it space or a product.” With this design insight Ar. Alhad Gore creates Globant, Pune, deriving inspiration from nature interwoven with a modern theme.
