We may define Post-honeymoon blues as a feeling of loneliness, sadness and loss after the honeymoon is over.
During the preparation and the wedding, you have been the center of attention. Everything revolved around you. The honeymoon enabled you to shut the world out, and concentrate only on your spouse. Like everything, that has to come to end, and you have to face the world again.
This is where most couples feel lonely because all the attention is gone. They have to go through life's struggles like anyone else. The extra burden may be that they have to work on building and maintaining their marriage and relationships with those around them (siblings and the in-laws). It is as if one has fallen down from a pedestal.
Although such a feeling comes naturally, it can be neutralized from a psychological perspective. How the mind interprets the preparation, the wedding, and the honeymoon itself, is of vital importance before one even begins preparation for a wedding. On the other hand, the purpose of the festivities plays a role in the aftermath of all the jubilations.
One of the most important questions may be; do you wholeheartedly love your spouse to can spend the rest of your life with her/him? Now, whilst preparing for the wedding, it may be so, only to realize something different when the dust settles. Your unconditional love for your spouse will solve most of the challenges posed by the post-honey blues.
