India's exports drop 2.6%
India's merchandise exports have been contracting amid slowing global demand, with a 2.6% year-on-year decline to $34.47 billion in September. Imports also fell by 15% to $53.84 billion during the same month, leading to a 5-month low trade deficit of $19.37 billion, marking a YoY drop of over 30%. This decline has been attributed to global headwinds and recessionary trends in India's major export destinations.
