Teenage tennis sensation Emma Raducanu’s Wimbledon fairytale ended in heartbreak last night as she bowed out of her last-16 match through injury.

Medics came on court to assess the 18-year-old, who has become a household name in recent days, after she clutched her stomach in pain.

Emma had lost a hard-fought first set 6-4 and was 3-0 down in the second.

John McEnroe said on BBC TV: “Maybe it’s not a shame this has happened right now when she is 18. I played this tournament at 18 and in a way I was happy I lost.
