THE Moderna vaccine has been approved for use in children aged 12 and over.

It is the second authorised by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency for 12 to 17-year-olds.

It is now up to the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation to advise the Government to proceed.

The MHRA said the jab, also known as Spikevax, is “safe and effective in this age group”.
