Make no mistake about it

Biblical sin: The 1631 King James Bible caused a scandal that cost royal printers Robert Barker and Martin Lucas their careers. And all because they left the word "not" out of one of the Ten Commandments.

The error meant the seventh commandment read: "Thou shalt commit adultery" All but 16 of the books were destroyed, while the printers were fined £300 (the equivalent of £63,000 today) and stripped of their licences.

Mint condition: Chilean officials were left red-faced in 2009 when they realised the country's name was misspelled on 1.5million coins. The 50-peso pieces, worth around 6p each, were marked "Chiie" instead of "Chile" Incredibly, it had taken them a year to notice the error on the 2008 cash. But when they did, Chilean Mint director Gregorio Iniguez got the sack.
