WHAT'S DAN IS DONE

RUBEN AMORIM branded Manchester United's sacking of Dan Ashworth "a bad situation" but claimed the club's vision going forward remains the same.

Ashworth, United's first sporting director, was sacked on Sunday after just five months in the role, after losing a power battle with CEO Omar Berrada.

Amorim admitted the loss of Ashworth was regrettable, but said the departure of one executive did not change his mission of taking United back to the top.

Ahead of United's Europa League tie away to Viktoria Plzen tonight, Amorim said: "The first thing I want to say since the first day I felt great support from the ownership, from Omar, from them also, from Jason [Wilcox] and Dan was part of that.

"I felt really, really, really [good] support from Dan but this is football and sometimes this happens. It happens with players and with coaches.
