This was an interview over 13 years in the making. I had the opportunity to interview a completely unknown Phil Heath in the spring o f 2005, shortly after he won the NPC Junior Nationals. Not long after, he won the US A and was immediately signed to an exclusive publishing deal with Weider/AM I, totally cutting off my access to him. Since then, Phil became Mr. Olympia, and continued to hold that title. Soon he will attempt to tie the record of eight wins set first by Lee Haney in 1991 and again by Ronnie Coleman in 2005. Known as “The Gift,” Phil is possibly the most misunderstood of all the Olympia champions. After all these years, I finally had the chance to speak to him again.
