What was your mission at the start of your company?
My mission was and still is to build up a leather brand in India that follows and understands global quality standards, bringing together all our strengths including raw material and excellent workmanship. I really believe in the “Make in India” campaign as I feel we are a country with so much potential and strength that we can do so much more!
What made you choose to start a company in this industry?
Honestly, this might sound strange, but ‘The Leather Story’ as an idea was conceived during telephonic conversation with a friend discussing over India being a huge exporter of leather goods, and how the retail market has very limited offerings from a brand perspective. That’s when I had my very own eureka moment, that led to the journey of shaping the ‘The Leather Story’ as a premium luxury brand. With enough experience in the industry - product design and sourcing came handy. Furthermore, to understand the retail marketing, I took up a course in IIM Kolkata to apply the right skillsets before launching the brand into Indian marketplace.
How did you come up with the name for your company?
