धान भारत की एक प्रमुख फसल है। हमारे देश में लगभग 360 लाख हैक्टेयेर क्षेत्र में धान की खेती की जाती है जिसमें से लगभग 20 लाख हैक्टेयर क्षेत्र वर्षा आधारित है। असिंचित क्षेत्रों में समय पर वर्षा का पानी न मिलने से किसान लोग समय से कद्दू नहीं कर पाते हैं जिससे धान की रोपाई में विलम्ब हो जाती है।

वर्तमान समय में किसान भाई भूजल संरक्षण को ध्यान में रखते हुए धान की फसल की सीधी बिजाई तकनीक को अपनाकर अधिक मुनाफा कमा सकते हैं। धान की सीधी बिजाई 20 से 25 जून तक पूरी कर लें क्योंकि बिजाई के बाद 20 दिन तक पानी की आवश्यकता नहीं पड़ेगी। धान की सभी किस्मों की सीधी बिजाई की जा सकती है लेकिन किसान भाइयों को जल्दी पकने वाली किस्म को प्राथमिकता देनी चाहिए। धान की सीधी बिजाई के लिए गेहूं की फसल की तरह ही खेत में करें।
