The November issue of Kairos contemplates on the recent Supreme Court verdicts that have revolutionized the media and the youth, and how certain misconceptions are creeping into the society in the name of freedom and progressiveness. Cover stories by Dr. Hussain Madavur and Krishnaraj S. justifies that courts should consider the cultural and religious traditions and moral heritage of the people before making lawful decisions. Fr. Mathew Illathuparambil specifies the approach of the Catholic Church towards the Supreme Court decrees on homosexuality and extra marital relationships. Amal Tom interviews the Psychotherapist and Consultant Psychologist of Ernakulam Outreach Space, Jeo P George, who responds to the questions of young people about the Supreme Court verdict on homosexuality. Sasi Emmanuel’s article ‘Nishabdhathayude Dheivam’ exemplifies that it is sometimes necessary to be silent and listen to God’s voice. The feature by Anitha Babu includes reviews of books like Basalel, Idaruna Idayan and Eliyenaayi, which describes the various struggles and insights experienced by priests and nuns. Dr. Edward Edezhath, in his segment Innale Innu writes about how Jesus Youth “Consultations” are means of accepting and envisioning new visions and insights. The issue also contains a thought-provoking testimony by Augustin Kodanadu, a write up on the recent Youth Consultation Meeting, Varthavichaaram by Sunny Kokkapillil, and special features for young readers.
Kairos Description:
Kairos is purely a youth initiative for the youth. It is being published from 1977 onwards. It is a group of young people from Calicut who initiated it. From 1998 onwards, it is being published under the sponsorship of Kerala Jesus Youth. Personal Experiences of Youth, Lifestyle Guides, Discussions, Opinions, Church News, Responses to Current Events, Jesus Youth News, Youth-centric Insights and much more – all this put together in a light and simple manner that can be instantly recognized as the ‘Kairos style’. It is the only youth and teenage communication in Malayalam with a focus on the Church. Kairos helps thousands of youth form relevant responses and lifestyles in today’s world based on the Church’s teachings through simple sharing of spiritual experiences by young people. Brings together young people endeavoring to live a life of faith in Jesus.
